Jeann "Roni" Faillows
Paul Studer met Jeann "Roni" Failows and some of her friends backstage at a Louis Armstrong concert in Brooklyn. This was also the occasion when Studer made acquaintance with Armstrong. Failows worked for Armstrong, helping him with his fan mail, and she was a good friend of Armstrong’s wife, Lucille. After the show, Studer invited Failows and her friends to visit him at his apartment, and together they had an impromptu party that lasted three days.
Studer and Failows started dating and they went everywhere together. Failows was also a jazz promoter and historian, and she wrote for the “Bulletin du Hot Club de Jazz”. She knew many jazz musicians and they often were invited to concerts, to visit the musicians in their homes, and to various other events. Studer remembers Failows as a relaxed, self-assured person and a loving friend and companion, liked by everyone.
